I've been tasked with modifying the default audio settings for our users. Currently, whenever we update Windows, it defaults back to HDMI.Active Oldest Votes.

i need this because i switch between my speakers and my headphones i already use AudioDeviceCmdlets in powershell to set an audio device as.I thought there would be a GPO but there isn't and disabling the HDMI audio completely isn't what we want, in case a user needs it, so I've found a powershell script that does a good part of what I need, but I would like to add to it.

filmha2.online › SomeProgrammerGuy › Powershell-Default-Audio-Device-C.I bypassed the issue by checking first if there's a Realtek device, which all computers here have, then it checks if there's a Logitech device, if there isn't a Logitech, it stays at Realtek without giving an error.

Change the default audio device in windows 7 with a single PowerShell script. This does not depend on any additional components.Add a comment.

With this, I can simply create a one-line Powershell file for my Realtek Digital Output: Set-AudioDevice -Index 3.Of course, it works since the Get-AudioDevice call autoloads the module.

I want to control which audio device is the default, using only powershell, not the UI. Can I do this? Thanks!Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search.

I found this useful when using a DVI Extender that would change the default audio to itself even though it required the main sound card to provide the audio into it.
